  • Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Switch 2 will not feature a global achievements system. In a conversation with Polygon, a company spokesperson responded with a simple "No" when asked whether the new console would support achievements — offering no further explanation.
  • There had been some speculation about the feature after it was revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom would include achievements. However, unlike on PlayStation or Xbox, these are tracked exclusively through the Nintendo Switch mobile app, not on the console itself.
  • Third-party developers, including companies like EA and Ubisoft, can still implement in-game achievements using their own systems. This allows for some level of progression tracking, but without a unified platform-wide system.
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 will go on sale June 5, 2025, for $450. Pre-orders open April 9 in most regions, except in the United States, where they’ve been delayed due to tariffs introduced under former President Trump.
