Death Stranding 2
Death Stranding 2 just dropped a fresh trailer during Sony's January State of Play livestream, and it's every bit as wild as Hideo Kojima's other creations. No surprises here – the leaks were spot on, and the game is officially titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

If you thought the first Death Stranding was out there, hold on tight. The trailer is a whopping ten minutes long, packed with bizarre scenes and lines that'll leave you scratching your head. Picture this: a stop-motion animated ventriloquist doll chilling on someone's shoulder. Yep, it's that kind of ride.

Things kick off with Fragile and another character doing some surgery on a mystery person, trying to yank out what looks like suction cups stuck on their arms. It's a bit like watching pimple-popping – not for the faint of heart.

Then, we catch Sam Porter Bridges reconnecting with Fragile. She's on a mission to "reconnect" the world beyond the United Cities of America. Fragile drops the bomb: "The Death Stranding is far from over. Humanity is still in danger, teetering on the brink of extinction."

 Death Stranding 2 Higgs
Hold onto your hats because Higgs, the big baddie from the first game, is back. Fans nailed it when they guessed that the guitar-strumming character from the first trailer was Higgs. In the new footage, Higgs wields an electric guitar like a weapon, swinging it around like a lightsaber and a chainsaw. He's even throwing down with a cyborg samurai. Talk about a surprise twist!

The trailer is a rollercoaster of weirdness, and it's tough to figure out what's really going on – especially with Kojima's history of throwing curveballs in trailers. Still, there are some interesting tidbits to catch, so keep your eyes peeled for more details.

In Death Stranding 2, it looks like the core gameplay is still centered around delivery and building, much like its predecessor. The trailer also showcases a broader range of visuals, with Sam navigating through rugged mountaintops, dry deserts, muddy rivers, and what seems to be an asteroid hanging out next to the moon.

While the first Death Stranding was a pretty solitary experience for Sam, the sequel appears to shift the focus. The trailer's description hints at a mission for human connection beyond the UCA, with Sam joined by companions on a quest to save humanity from extinction. The narrative raises a poignant question: "should we have connected?" This, along with the trailer content, suggests a more significant role for a diverse cast of characters.

As for burning questions, we'll need to practice some patience. Death Stranding 2 is currently in the works for PS5 and is set to hit the shelves in 2025, though we're still waiting on a more precise release date. Stay tuned for more updates!
