In February and March, online rumors swirled suggesting that Sony and Marvel were interested in producing another Spider-Man movie featuring Tobey Maguire, with Sam Raimi potentially returning as director.
In a recent interview, Raimi acknowledged being aware of these rumors but clarified that neither of the studios has reached out to him regarding the project.
Raimi expressed uncertainty about whether companies would be inclined to revisit an older storyline, especially considering the immense popularity and financial success of the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man films.
Furthermore, Raimi disclosed that discussions about a possible fourth installment with Tobey Maguire haven't taken place. He mentioned having a strong rapport with Marvel Studios following his involvement in the "Doctor Strange" sequel, leading him to believe that the studio would have already approached him if there were genuine interest in a "Spider-Man 4."
Nevertheless, Raimi indicated his interest in working on a sequel, as stated in a 2022 interview. Additionally, both Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst have expressed willingness to reprise their roles if given the opportunity.
