The founder and chief creative officer of Arrowhead Game Studios Johan Pilestedt believes that his studio has excellent potential for further development. The executive said this in a conversation with GamesIndustry.biz. Shams Jorjani, who was previously appointed head of Arrowhead added that the goal of the studio is to become a flagship studio in order to attract the best specialists.
We pride ourselves on being an independent studio. We have to see what the future holds, but there’s nothing in the plans where we want to be acquired by somebody. I want to see how high we can fly. And bringing Shams on board, we have a good potential to realise that future of turning into the next From Software or Blizzard.
Arrowhead does not necessarily aim to grow into a company with hundreds of employees, Jorjani emphasized. It's about the organic growth that will be required to achieve the next goals that arise for the team, he said.
The goal of the studio is to make really great co-op games. We really want to turn Arrowhead into a flagship studio, where people who want to make these kind-of games say to themselves: ‘I want to work at Arrowhead’. When we were growing up, we really wanted to work at Blizzard, it was one of the bucket list places to work at. I think Arrowhead has the potential to be that.
At the end of the conversation, Pilestedt added that the studio is not in business to make money, but to make great games.

Earlier, Pilestedt stepped down as head of the studio to focus on developing Helldivers 2 and the company's next games.
