Could the reported "disappointing sales numbers" of FF7: Rebirth be due to fewer people owning a PS5 compared to a PS4?

I could only play FF7 Remake because it was on PS4. I'm not willing to buy a PS5 just to keep playing the series. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. With its great reviews and loyal fanbase, I think the shift in availability has hurt sales for an otherwise excellent game in a beloved franchise.
