Microsoft and id Software studio will present the next installment of the DOOM franchise during Xbox Games Showcase 2024, which will be held on June 9. This was reported by journalist Tom Henderson, citing his sources.
The game will be called DOOM: The Dark Ages. It is being developed under the code name Year Zero for at least four years.
When creating DOOM: The Dark Ages the developers were inspired by the Middle Ages. What exactly this will manifest itself in is unknown. Henderson suggested that the action of the shooter may unfold in the Middle Ages, and the game itself will be a prequel.
DOOM was released in 2016, and DOOM Eternal - in 2020. Thus, if DOOM: The Dark Ages is released in 2024, four years will pass between the release of the games again.
