nintendo switch yuzu
  • Enthusiasts have initiated the development of Nintendo Switch emulators for PC known as Nuzu and Suyu. These emulators are built upon the source code of Yuzu, a previous emulator that ceased operation following a dispute with Nintendo.
  • Repositories for both Nuzu and Suyu emulators have surfaced on GitHub, with developers establishing presence on social networks, Reddit, and Discord servers. They are actively seeking individuals interested in contributing to the advancement of Nintendo Switch emulators for PC.
  • On the GitHub page of Suyu emulator, its creators have stated their stance against piracy. They have made it clear that users must provide their own game files to run on the emulator, emphasizing that they do not intend to profit from it, primarily to avoid legal action from Nintendo.
  • Similarly, the developers of Nuzu have underscored their commitment to creating a Yuzu-based emulator for lawful purposes. However, they have not ruled out implementing restrictions on standard Yuzu functionality.
  • In light of the Nuzu and Suyu projects, the Yuzu developers have shuttered their website, with the domain slated to be transferred to Nintendo. A farewell message from the creators has been posted on the website, condemning piracy.

Nintendo filed a lawsuit against the creators of Yuzu at the end of February 2024. Shortly thereafter, both parties reached a pre-trial settlement agreement. As part of the agreement, the Yuzu creators agreed to pay Nintendo 2.4 million dollars in damages and cease distribution and development of any Nintendo console emulators, including future iterations.
