model from Stellar Blade
  • The South Korean YouTube channel of Maxim magazine released a video supporting model Shin Jae-yun, whose body was scanned to create the protagonist of Stellar Blade. This came after an IGN France journalist criticized the game's protagonist, likening her to "a tasteless doll sexualized by someone who has never seen a woman."
"The IGN France review of the Stellar Blade demo labeled Eva as tasteless. However, Eva's appearance is based on Shin Jae-yun, the cover model of Maxim magazine.

Is it fair to call a character unrealistic when it's modeled after a real person's body? This raises questions about political correctness, a topic we've heard a lot about lately. To show our viewers that Shin Jae-yun's body is real and exists in the real world, we've decided to re-release the video of her photo shoot with subtitles in various languages", stated Maxim.
  • IGN France has apologized to the developers of Stellar Blade, acknowledging that they did not mean to disrespect Shift Up, its employees, or their work. The journalists admitted that the phrase in the demo review was inappropriate and have edited it.
  • Shift Up studio aimed to create the most attractive protagonist for Stellar Blade, collaborating with the model. CEO Kim Hyun Dae previously disclosed that when he plays, he prefers to see characters who look better than him.
