Destiny 2 and CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3
Bungie has teased a crossover between Destiny 2 and CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3, bringing three new armor sets inspired by Geralt of Rivia. The collaboration, part of Season of the Wish starting on November 28, includes armor ornaments, a Ghost shell, ship, Sparrow, emote, and finisher. While the new skins are visually appealing, they come at a challenging time for Destiny 2, facing its lowest point in recent years.

Bungie's press release mentioned the in-game collaboration with CD Projekt Red, allowing Guardians to adopt the appearance of monster slayers with Witcher-inspired cosmetics. The pricing details for the armor sets haven't been disclosed, but past collaborations, like with Assassin’s Creed, have been priced at $20 per armor set. This implies a potential cost of $60 for all three sets, excluding additional items like the Ghost shell.

Unfortunately, the timing of the release coincides with a tumultuous period for Destiny 2. Bungie recently laid off 100 employees, missed revenue projections by 45 percent, and delayed The Final Shape expansion by three months. This culmination of challenges has led to Destiny 2 experiencing its lowest concurrent player numbers on Steam. The community has expressed frustration with the game's direction, and the introduction of pricey armor sets, especially after the recent layoffs, raises concerns and skepticism among players.

Although Season of the Wish promises to address some long-standing mysteries in Destiny 2, uncertainties about the game's future persist. The decision to release paid collaborations following the layoffs and ongoing player discontent poses a considerable challenge for Bungie, irrespective of the visual appeal of The Witcher 3-inspired sets.
