Some media published gameplay previews of the story campaign of the urban strategy Frostpunk 2. In them, journalists shared their first impressions after a few hours of play.
  • Frostpunk 2 has become much larger in comparison with the first part. Players need to build not separate buildings, but entire neighborhoods, which can be placed on the map more freely. Due to this, the size of settlements became bigger, and the responsibility for their successful development also increased.
  • Despite the increased scale, in Frostpunk 2, as in the first part, you need to respond to the various requests of residents and try to solve them. According to reviewers, although the game has become bigger, it has not lost the sense of personalized care for the citizens that was in the original. Players will still have to face difficult moral dilemmas, as before, which have become even more complex.
  • One of the key changes to Frostpunk 2 is the increased emphasis on politics. Players are required to build their relationships with various factions, each with their own beliefs and their own idea of utopia. In order to successfully develop the city and survive, you need to skillfully make decisions and find the right balance between the ideas of officials of different worldviews.

  • Frostpunk 2 retained the general brutality inherent in the series. For example, one reviewer said that he had to send 112 troubled teenagers into the mines and then cut off their access to oxygen to keep the fire from getting out of control and thus save the coal deposit. According to the reporter, after the incident, 17-year-old George Fairweather "had the nerve" to tell him that he missed his little sister who had died in the mine.
  • All journalists wrote that Frostpunk 2 is instantly addictive. According to the author from IGN, he didn't play the first part very much, but he didn't have any problems with figuring out the second part.
  • GamesRadar believes that Frostpunk 2 has everything to surpass the first part. The developers have updated and expanded the fundamental mechanics of urban strategy, but kept the basic essence, for which players loved the original.
  • Frostpunk 2 ran great on PC in terms of performance, GamesRadar noted. According to the reviewer, he didn't encounter a single bug during several hours of play. He considered this a great sign, provided that the release isn't until July 25.
