A Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player recently took to the internet to share an astonishingly absurd yet strangely effective NPC-powered flyer. This quirky creation is just the latest addition to the ever-evolving building meta within Tears of the Kingdom.

As we approach the five-month anniversary of Tears of the Kingdom's highly acclaimed release on October 12, it's clear that while many players have completed the latest installment in the Zelda series, some are still deeply engrossed in exploring the game's building mechanics. This is evident from the continuous stream of increasingly intricate and convoluted contraptions emerging in the Tears of the Kingdom community.

The most recent exhibit in this trend is a flyer powered by NPCs, assembled by a Reddit user known as divlogue. This peculiar machine consists of four Zonai Carts and a single Hover Stone, with a Stabilizer attached at an angle of about 45 degrees relative to the rest of the platform to provide slight upward lift. The secret to this bizarre contraption's propulsion lies in trapping an NPC between its carts and then connecting a Zonai Stabilizer to the overall structure.

When activated, this invention gains steady acceleration by seemingly exploiting the game's mechanic that typically causes characters to slip off Zonai devices. However, since this unique machine is designed to prevent NPCs from escaping, it effectively tricks the game into accelerating the trapped character and, consequently, the surrounding Zonai devices indefinitely. To showcase the capabilities of this vehicle, its creator flew from Tears of the Kingdom's Snowfield Stable in the northwest corner of Hyrule all the way to Martha's Landing in the south. The entire journey took less than two minutes, even with intermittent pauses to load the terrain due to the incredible speed at which the player was traveling.

The fan who shared this discovery credited Japanese YouTuber maythzelda for uncovering the underlying technique of NPC-powered flight. Although theoretically applicable to any unsuspecting character encountered in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, divlogue recommended using NPCs that don't flee when Link employs Ultrahand, many of which can be found near the game's numerous stables.

This unexpectedly effective flying contraption is just one example of the unique inventions crafted by Tears of the Kingdom's dedicated fanbase in recent times. In late September, another resourceful player devised a brilliant land traversal vehicle within Tears of the Kingdom, utilizing three steering sticks to perfect the art of getting around the game's world.
